Up the Rigi

Here they are, the photos of our climb up the Rigi. We started at 9:30 and got to the very top around 3, with lots of stops and one minor detour along the way. Remko has already been up the most-traveled way, which includes a long stretch on a paved road. He wanted to be more adventurous and hike up the whole way in the woods or grassy fields. The trail was 6th class, which means lowest maintained and several times we found ourselves at farmer's backdoors wondering if the way was through this pasture or that one. Almost all the way up we connected back to the well-marked trail and congratulated Remko on his navigating skills. The first photo is of one set of "stairs" we found along the way--each step was a circular metal rung and the ladder went almost straight up. Kind of like a jungle gym at first, then not so fun the higher up you climbed. The second photo is of me on one of the trails for Jared to see that we were there taking these photos. Funky outfit, huh? :) The rest are scenes along the way. Remember the mountain I take all those photos of from the terrace? It's in the fourth photo but at quite a different angle. Can you see it?
