Transport Thursday

When deciding that we could do all the food ourselves, we didn't really take into account that 50 people for five meals is 250 meals plus snacks, and that requires quite a bit of food and drink. We shopped every day, piling up the food in our basement until we needed three carloads to bring it to the train station.

We were so lucky to have help from Remko's aunt, uncle, cousins, and his parents on Thursday to bring everything to the hotel. They had to put a special car on the train......

....that we fully loaded.

The weather on Friday morning was gray and dark and we were so disappointed. Maybe we couldn't do the big hikes we were planning on Saturday. But we held out hope that it was "unter grau, über blau." That's a German saying that explains the weather phenomenon where low clouds make the ground level gray but leave the mountaintops blue. As the train chugged further up and up, we found out it was true. At the hotel's height it was beautiful! Here are a couple photos of the mountaintops in the clouds.
