Alpermaggronen

On Friday night we had a traditional Swiss meal called älpermaggronen, which is potatoes, pasta, cheese, and onions baked together in a casserole dish until the cheese melts through. Yum. We had dedicated chefs on hand all afternoon peeling, cutting, and cooking the potatoes, cooking the pasta, and chopping the onions.

It was such a beautiful night we thought we could make the meal a little more fun by cooking it outside in a large gas skillet with lots of great helpers!

The cheese didn't melt all through and the noodles sometimes stuck to the bottom, but it turned out soooo good!

Of course we had pre-dinner entertainment provided by Remko's talented cousin.

And a sing-along, where I heartily joined in. No idea what the Dutch words meant, but I sang. :)
