Dutch Disneyland!

On my birthday was Remko's cousin's bachelor party, so we celebrated later in the week at Efteling, which is a big amusement park centered around a fairytale theme. The night before we stayed at the park's hotel.

It was also decorated with fairytale creatures in the room. Couldn't decide who this was...

Here's the bathroom mirror. Who's the prettiest of them all? :)

As guests in the hotel, we were allowed in the park 15 minutes before it opened. Yeah!....except the park really didn't open until 15 minutes later, so we walked around and couldn't get on the rides early.

We did run over to the newest ride, the Flying Dutchman. Here's the outside. It's a water ride that turns into a roller coaster, similar to Splash Mountain in Disneyworld, but bigger.

The inside was like a house with an old library that you walked through, then a dark (really dark!) hallway filled with mist, then you walked into the merchant area with a bar. All of this was the line, but luckily for us, we could walk all the way to the ride. Here's Remko at the bar. So detailed!

The whole park was remarkably detailed. Here's Cinderella's castle, which is used for theatre performances of fairytales.

Here's a 1000 nights ride.

The World Wildlife Fund sponsored a movie and a big playground for kids to help them with their environmental awareness. Here's what I'd look like as a monkey. Scary.

The original part of the park that's still as big as ever is the Fairytale forest. You walk down a wooded path and come across scenes from fairytales. It went on and on and on. Here's Sleeping Beauty's castle.

And Rapunzel.

It was a great birthday present and I'm glad I got to share it!!
