Antwerp

On our way home from the Netherlands, we stopped for the night in Antwerp, Belgium to see some of Remko's friends and where he went to school. We got to the downtown area late morning and just walked around for awhile. Such beautiful architecture.

We had a lunch of fries and fried things at the stand with the number 1 fries in Belgium. There's a contest every year and this place always wins. Not bad, but all the sauces are a little strange. I had curry ketchup, Remko had mayo.

We also took a couple old, wooden escalators down to a tunnel under the river to see what the city looks from the other side. The escalators were some of the first in the world and are still going strong.

Just a couple more scenic photos.
