Along for the Ride

After spending another night with Remko's family in Vlaardigen, we drove on country roads to Freisland in the north. We stopped for lunch in Spakenburg which is famous for these brown, shallow boats....

and the fabric. We just had to stop. :)

Further along the way, we came across sand dunes with trees and these pretty purple flowers. We stopped for look around.

Also along the way (it was a looooong drive) we drove across land that was reclaimed from the ocean. To keep it dry, hundreds of windmills ran.


We stopped at a couple places in Freisland looking for somewhere to stay, but only found nice scenery.

As a last resort around 8pm we asked at a gas station. They told us about a bed and breakfast on a farm. We rolled in as it was getting dark and all we could see was a sign advertising the place and a whole bunch of cows. Luckily the family was home and we could stay. The next day we asked about these little calves. There was three of them and they were three days old. So cute!
