This guy had to stand in front because of the shape of the boat--the driver couldn't see if he was going to run into anyone. Livingston is on a peninsula, so the only real way to get there is by boat. The marina is understandably a busy place.

The town is small and secluded--you saw a lot of backpackers with heavy loads and dreadlocks. Here's a local store selling fruit.

On our way out of Livingston, we motored a little ways up the Rio Dulce to see the jungle on the sides. First, we passed this boat full of birds.

The rainforest was amazing. Don't the vines growing up the trees look like muppet fingers?

Several local fishermen were at work, even in the heat of the afternoon. The colors of their clothes and small canoes stood out on the smooth river and vast greenness of the land.

We needed to check out one of the ship's tours that goes to a local village where the guests learn about culture and way of life in this area. On the way, we passed several lake homes with docks--reminded me a little of my mom and dad's tours on our lake on the pontoon. We woke a couple puppies up from their afternoon siesta.

At the village, guests are taken up the river to see how clear it is when no boats murk up the waters. So beautiful!

It was a busy day, but full of bright colors and interesting culture.

I love the mossy green muppet fingers. :) I miss that lush rainforest type of green, that just drips from everything.
Glad you had a great time at home, and that you were able to catch that almost impossibly timed flight!
